Work History:
I taught elementary school in Royal Oak for 2 1/2 years.
I began a preschool in my home for 8 years while our own children were that age.
I taught school at Southfield Christian School for 24 years when our youngest entered school.
After retirement I still wanted to do something, so went full circle to teach preschool again in our home. This is my tenth year coming up in the Fall, since I retired from Kindergarten.
That's about 45 years of teaching school and I'm looking forward to another year in September. Those little three and four year old children are the sweetest and I love opening up a whole new world to them. If any of you have grandchildren living in the West Bloomfield area, I would love to have them!
My granddaughter, Rebecca, wants to be a preschool teacher and I promised to give her all of my materials. She helped me for two years, since her mom homeschooled her, and she fell in love with the job. She now attends Cranbrook. Her older sister, Elizabeth, attends Cranbrook, also. She is a fantastic ballet dancer and if anyone has seen The Nutcracker at Mercy High School at Christmas time, she was dancing.
Of course, I could go on and on about those great grandchildren, as could all of you, so I will stop, but isn't it fun being a grandparent? Much easier than raising our own children, right?
My husband was a police officer in Rochester before retirement. He loves helping me with the preschool. The children love having a grandpa as a helper. We have been married 46 years!
I have loved reading about everyone of you. I went right down the list and enjoyed reading what everyone has done. I think I win the prize for having the most grandchildren!
